Boeing 737 Troubles Causing Airliners To Drop Destinations, Flights, and Delay Hiring

As Boeing continues to struggle with its workhouse 737, the airlines that rely on the near ubiquitous plane and its many versions are deciding to shed destinations and flights according to the Wall Street Journal .

“As much as I would like those deliveries, you know, this is not a 12-month issue. This is a two-decade issue,” he said at an investor conference. “I’d rather Boeing do what they need to do, and I think they are now.”

Air carriers continue to announce their strategies for dealing with the issues roiling the venerable Boeing. The responses to the delays range from United pausing hiring of new pilots until more planes can be found to Southwest Airlines cancelling or modifying flights while Alaska Air has announced a setback of tens of millions following its grounding of its 737 fleet which followed a recent incident at takeoff.
