While Inflation Tapers To 5.0% Annually, Near Across The Board Cost Hikes Point To Challenges

Another month, another consumer price report that the rising cost of shelter is pushing the annualized inflation measure to over 2.5X the Federal Reserve’s statutory annual target of 2% according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

With the cost of shelter rising at an annual 8.2% rate, Americans of all economic backgrounds are finding tight housing markets as employers are having difficulty attracting workers who often were more likely to move for jobs.

The index for shelter was by far the largest contributor to the monthly all items increase.
