Top American Ports Report Record Import Traffic, Exports Down Again

The Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle, and up and down the Atlantic Coast report record import trade volumes as the economy continues to recover from the pandemic related lockdowns of the last two years.

While the volume amongst imports reached new heights and often accounted for double digit year over year growth, export volume at many of the ports was reported to have been down for the 36th month out of the last 40 months in some cases, according to Transport Topics.

Import container traffic broke records at several American ports including the two largest, Los Angeles and Long Beach. Statistics are reported in the thousands of TEU - twenty foot equivalent units rounded up to the nearest thousand as reported in Transport Topics.
