Federal EPA Grants $2.2 Billion To Large Scale California Reservoir Project
Looking to maintain California’s water supply through surface storage of snow pack run off from the nearby Sierra Nevada, the federal EPA joined a number of federal funding sources this month in granting $2.2 billion, or about half the estimated price tag, for a new large scale reservoir in Sites, CA.
While the Sites reservoir project has been under consideration since the 1950’s, the project has been moved to the front of policy discussions over the last few years and specifically after the commitment of $2.2 billion in loan grants from the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.
